I was going to post a big, fat pity party for one (I separated/dislocated/jacked up my shoulder in my hockey game this weekend) today, but as I'm watching the news of the tornadoes in Oklahoma right now, I don't think that's appropriate.

I read a few Facebook posts about the tornadoes but didn't realize how bad it was.

It's bad.

Schools were hit.

The news is reporting that there was a teacher who was laying on top of three children trying to protect them. Would you do that for your kids? One word. HERO. I pray that teacher is OK.

I pray for the students, the teachers, and their families. I pray for comfort and healing and strength. That they will be able to come together as a community to clean up and rebuild their lives. I can't even imagine...

About 5 years ago we had a tornado warning. On our Field Day. It was a nightmare to get everyone to a safe place, but we did. The tornado was about 10-15 miles away, but we still took cover. Most of the kids were fine, but I remember two in particular. I had one under each arm. For some reason I wasn't scared. Just waiting for it to pass. Because they always do.

It didn't pass today in OK. It plowed right through. I hope there were enough arms to hold all those babies today.

  1. Horrible! :( I feel the same way! Great example of being a hero!
