Linking up again with Doodle Bugs Teaching to give you a quick recap of my week:
1. Read Across America Day!
One way we celebrated today was with a hat contest. Here are some of the creative hats that came in today:
She has feathers, fringe, and SPARKLES on her hat! AWESOME!! |
This one was my favorite, but didn't win the class vote. He has truffula trees on top and a Lorax masquerade mask! |
She is wearing a stocking hat, but attached Thing 1 to it and drew pictures of Dr. Seuss characters and pinned them all around. |
This was the winner in our class. He was calling it the "High 5 Hat!" It's actually an ice cream bucket with blown up rubber gloves. Not really a Dr. Seuss hat, but definitely creative and funny! |
There may or may not be an empty Caramel Delites box in the garbage can as well... |
3. Working on Native American Research and Presentations
YES second graders can work in cooperative groups! YES second graders can make PowerPoint slideshows! I can't wait to show you how they turn out next week!

4. Snow Day... Just Kidding!
We were all hyped up for a snow day on Wednesday.... aannnddddd..... SORRY! :( Here was my drive home on Wednesday.
I literally drove 25-30 mph the whole way home. Yep, I'm one of "those people."

This has seriously changed my classroom this week... for the better! Click here to read more!
Lastly, Diane from Fifth in the Middle coordinated an AH-MAZE-ING linky for all 50 states! I can't begin to imagine how much time it took her for to do this!

I kept leaving the hole punch around the room and would forget where I put it, so I put it on a string and wore it like a necklace. LOL! |

I am looking forward to seeing your powerpoints - I've done that with my second graders, too!

Love those hats! How adorable and creative! I found your blog via blog by state linky party. I'm a fellow WI blogger. Sorry to hear you didn't end up with a snow day. That drive looks scary and this is coming from another WI native.
